The Music Department is the formation of choir groups in Christ Apostolic Church and dates back to the beginning of the church. Members were endowed with insight by the Holy Spirit to compose lyrics and native songs that inspired and ministered to people’s needs.
The earliest forms of music in CAC were accompanied with drums, gongs and other percussion instruments being the most readily available at the time. These simplest forms of instruments were used in traditional religious ceremonies as known to the Yoruba nation among which the church originated. There were no notations or formal writing of the music. Its sounds can only be extrapolated from the music of the indigenous Africans that strictly adhered to some of the ancient religious practices.
The formation of the defunct United Association of CAC Choirs was a significant landmark in the history of CAC choir and one major achievement of this group.

The Choir is undoubtedly one of the oldest departments that has grown with the Church over the years. The Choir ministry started in Olatunji Ige Street, Ketu in 1975. The Choir executive was headed by the first Choirmaster, Brother J. Ola Osunkoya (now Pastor). He also served in various departments of the Church such as Sunday School, Ushering, Evangelical and Interpreters Departments before he eventually cleaved to the Choir Department for ease of operation. He did that passionately before he was called into full-time ministry in 1997.
Aside from these, most of the past members of the choir are doing great exploits in their ministries. Some have become founders, and pastors, and are serving in different vocations/professions in Nigeria and overseas. Many of the members have become notable gospel artists and a few renowned gospel artists have also tapped from covenant operating upon the Church. They include Evangelist Dunni Olanrewaju and Evangelist Esther Igbekele among others.
If you can talk then you can sing! If you’ve got fingers then you can play an instrument! Let everything that has breadth praise the Lord (and that includes YOU).
