The story of the Publicity Department at Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Igbala Ketu is a tapestry woven with dedication, innovation, and a deep commitment to spreading the Gospel.
The department journey started under Itire District in 1980. During this period, Pastor Benjamin Okpaise, the Assistant General Superintendent (AGS) of blessed memory, had a strong interest in communication and journalism. He sponsored a monthly tabloid named “SWORD OF THE SPIRIT AND REVIVAL TIDINGS Magazine,” which circulated throughout the Assemblies under his jurisdiction. The Editor of the monthly Magazine was Elder Remi Collins (now the Music Director of MFM Worldwide).

The Assembly Publicity journey began in 1986 through the then Church Secretary, Elder (now Pastor) S. S. Karrim. He introduced Bro Jacob Oluwayemi (previously Ogunyemi) to the Editor of the Sword of the Spirit and Revival Tidings Magazine. Part of the assignment was to liaise with Editor on worthy news from C.A.C Oke-Igbala Ketu. Bro (now Elder) S. A. Ogundipe was already a columnist and featured prominently in the magazine. The contributions made by members of the church to production, circulation and quality of the magazine did not miss the radar of late Pastor D. K. E. Sokunbi, one of the leading Ministers in C.A.C. who consistently extolled the church for their contributions to the quality and acceptance of the magazine within and outside the district.
To expand its reach and readership base, the Sword of the Spirit and Revival Tidings Newspaper was given a facelift and the team was expanded. On 24th June 1991, Bro Jacob Oluwayemi became an internal reporter and member of Production Team. He eminently represented the assembly on the new assignment. Reporters monthly meeting were held at the District Headquarters Church in Itire. This was under Pastor S. F. Oshunleti, the then Assembly Pastor.
Based on the experience gathered from our District Headquarter Itire, Ketu assembly Publicity committee was officially inaugurated on 19th July 1993. Members of the Committee were:

Following the inauguration of the Publicity Committee, Evangelist Jacob Oluwayemi, a member of the committee, muted the idea of a newsletter where all the church programs and activities are compiled to save announcement time during the Sunday church service, Pastor S. F. Oshunleti and Board bought the idea and that gave birth to a Newsletter. Bro (now Elder) E. O. Fatile played a significant role during this period of transformation. Due to the successes recorded with the newsletter, its members decided to elevate the newsletter into a world-class monthly magazine. They decided that the proposed magazine would be published monthly, while the newsletter would continue to provide weekly coverage of Church events and news.
With the elevation of C.A.C. Oke Igbala to a Zonal status, a full-fledged committee, incorporating both the Editorial Board and the Management Board, was established to effectively manage the production and distribution of the magazine across Zonal Assemblies. Elder O. A. Phillips was appointed as the pioneer Editor, with Bro S. A. Ogundipe as the Assistant Editor.
Since then, GOSPEL FLAME magazine has become the flagship publication of the Church, spreading the good news of the Gospel in line with its motto, “The glorious gospel of the blessed God” (1 Timothy 1:11). The magazine has gained widespread acceptance and appreciation from its readers, a testament to its enduring impact and relevance.
Special recognition is given to Elder O. A. Phillips, who served as the magazine’s editor for a significant number of years before passing the torch to the current editor, Elder (Barrister) Akin Adepoju, who continues to contribute significantly to the Kingdom’s work.
The current Editorial Board and Management Committee Team are composed of dedicated individuals who work tirelessly to ensure the continued success and growth of the Publicity Department, not only for the present but also for future generations.
